My wife and I live in Austin. Clearly, we are extremely concerned with the ultra-regressive legislation that’s taken effect, and of course the nation’s highest court declining to hear challenges to it.
Attempting to get past the intense frustration we feel about these destructive culture-war policies, I’d love some suggestions of what we can actually do to help. A majority of Texans does NOT support restrictive abortion policies or terrifyingly permissive gun policies. The state is gerrymandered to hell and voter turnout is typically far too low. If anyone here knows of any organizations or individuals we can support to nudge this state in the other direction from the dark ages, please let me know. We need strong, capable, progressive leadership here more than ever, and it’s very tough to find.
