    The Jerusalem Fund, a 501(c)(3) registered private nonprofit organization located in Washington, D.C., is currently seeking a Finance and Operations Manager. This full-time, exempt position involves a wide range of responsibilities, including managing financial and accounting tasks, processing grant applications and maintaining communication with grantees, organizing fundraising appeals through both physical and electronic mailings, maintaining accurate donor records, handling donor correspondence, and fulfilling the annual charitable solicitation registrations as required by various states. The Finance and Operations Manager, who reports directly to the Executive Director, plays a critical role in managing the organization’s financial and operational systems, processes, administration, and internal controls. The overarching goal of the position is to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the day-to-day business and financial activities of the organization, in line with its mission.     This position demands meticulous attention to detail and accuracy, particularly concerning donor information.

    Main Responsibilities:

    Finance, Accounting, & Administration

    – Efficiently manage the organization’s daily financial operations, including bill payments, budget monitoring, and value optimization.

    – Ensure the integrity of financial records through diligent record-keeping, monthly reconciliations, and precise financial documentation.

    – Collaborate with the Executive Director to liaise with auditors, facilitating thorough annual financial audits.

    – Produce comprehensive financial and administrative reports to support strategic planning and decision-making.

    – Administer payroll and employee benefits with precision and timeliness, reinforcing the organization’s commitment to its staff.

    – Extend robust support to the Executive Director and program staff, enhancing organizational efficacy.

    Grants Management

    – Oversee the meticulous handling of all aspects of quarterly grant applications for The Jerusalem Fund’s Humanitarian Link program, ensuring organizational transparency and accountability.

    – Coordinate the preparation and submission of grants, ensuring thorough vetting and presentation for executive and board review.

    – Foster clear and consistent communication with grant applicants, managing fund disbursement and ensuring the receipt of comprehensive project reports.

    – Maintain and update the Humanitarian Link section of The Jerusalem Fund’s website, ensuring accessibility and up-to-date information for stakeholders.

    Fundraising & Development

    – In cooperation with the Program and Communications Manager, contribute to the creation of compelling fundraising appeals and materials, underpinning the organization’s financial sustainability and oversee the production and distribution of fundraising materials, utilizing both traditional and digital channels to maximize outreach.

    – Implement and manage a donor database through donor management software, ensuring accurate and current donor information.

    – Ensure the prompt issuance of acknowledgment and tax receipt letters, reinforcing donor trust and compliance with financial regulations.

    – Maintain up-to-date fundraising registrations and compliance documentation, adhering to state and federal nonprofit regulations.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    – Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

    – Non-Profit Sector Experience: Prior experience working within the non-profit sector, demonstrating an understanding of its unique financial, regulatory, and operational environment.

    – Leadership and Management: Demonstrated leadership abilities, including experience in managing teams or projects effectively. Proven track record of successful project management and team collaboration.

    – Strategic Financial Management: Strong capability in strategic planning, financial forecasting, and analysis to support organizational goals. Experience in developing and implementing financial strategies that contribute to long-term sustainability.

    – Technical Proficiency: Excellent computer, IT, and technical skills are a MUST. This includes:

          – High-level proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel & Word), with advanced mail merge skills.

        - Knowledge of QuickBooks accounting software and familiarity with other financial software, donor management systems, or       CRM platforms.

    – Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to address complex problems and implement effective solutions. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing organizational needs.

    – Adaptability and Flexibility: The capacity to work efficiently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines with attention to detail.

    – Cultural Competency: Sensitivity and awareness of the cultural values and mission of the organization. Ability to work respectfully and effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

    Strong communication and teamwork skills are crucial, enabling effective collaboration and clear information sharing among team members.
