Bio

I am a seasoned political communications professional with a background in statewide electoral and issue advocacy work, journalism and nonprofit marketing. I have directed communications efforts for progressive statewide campaigns in California, Idaho and Maine, and I have worked as a communications consultant focused on media relations and strategic communications for progressive U.S. House and U.S. Senate campaigns across the United States.

As a journalist, I have covered national and state-level politics for independent media including Common Dreams, Sludge, and Lucid News.

In my current role as Director of Communications for Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund, I’ve developed and executed strategic communications campaigns to protect and expand access to abortion and related care in Maine. In the first full legislative session since the U.S. Supreme Court revoked federal protections for abortion, our work helped see the passage of several new laws that address ongoing threats to abortion care, providers and patients. One of those laws made Maine the first state in the nation to expand access to abortion later in pregnancy through its state legislature since the Dobbs ruling.

My background as a news editor and journalist informs my advocacy communications work, and I enjoy creating strategic earned media campaigns, writing and editing press releases, talking points, and preparing staff, volunteers and partners for media interviews.

I am interested in the intersection of social movements and electoral reforms as well as healthcare, citizen participation in the democratic process and the essential role of the free press in holding power to account.

Impact

Most recently, in my role as Director of Communications for Planned Parenthood Maine Action Fund, I’ve helped pass legislation that protects and expands access to abortion and related healthcare in Maine.

I volunteered as a district organizer for a successful Medicaid Expansion ballot measure effort in Idaho in 2018. The measure passed with 62% of the vote. Since then, more than 100,000 Idahoans became eligible for Medicaid.

I began my career in politics volunteering for Brand New Congress in 2017 and 2018. During that time, I managed the BNC writing team (volunteers) and wrote and edited content for congressional hopefuls including Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and Cori Bush.

Mission

I’m looking to work on campaigns or for advocacy organizations focused on voting rights, the democratic process (including promoting and protecting the ballot measure process), reproductive rights, healthcare, bereavement/paid benefits, climate and animal advocacy.
