Former English teacher/speech coach looking to work in comms
|
Bio |
I’m primarily a teacher and coach. I taught high school English for a couple years. I worked as a competitive speech coach for seven years, helping high school students analyze politics, change minds, and tell powerful stories in creative ways. I also worked with two separate LGBTQ+ clubs, including helping start a club for queer and allied 5th and 6th graders.
My involvement in progressive politics has been limited so far. I’m a donor, volunteer, and occasional op-ed writer. Over the past couple years, I’ve started to see a space in politics—communication—where I believe my skills and experience would be useful.

Mission |
I want to help progressive leaders with great ideas connect with voters. There are so many rhetorical battles taking place right now—”defund,” “abolish,” “critical race theory,” etc. —and Democrats tend to surrender these terms and their definitions to Republicans. If a progressive idea polls badly today, that shouldn’t be a sign to back off. It should be a data point you can use to reframe the issue and rebuild the strategy around it.
I want to work with visionary candidates and organizations who are not afraid of “culture war” issues. I want to talk about progressive ideas instead of running away from them.
