Bio | I have been involved in progressive politics since I was a child. My parents volunteered for the Kennedy campaign in 1960. My brothers volunteered to help with the Carter campaign in 1976, and I first volunteered with the Clinton campaign in 1992. My passion for progressive politics has played a considerable role in my life ever since I can remember. In the early 2000s, I became heavily involved with the Lake County, Illinois Democrats. I led the effort to recruit young people to join our organization and raise their interest in progressive politics. I went to several local universities and met with their College Democrats groups. I spent 20 years in sports-talk radio in Chicago and Dallas, which is what brought us to Texas. After voicing the pregame/postgame shows on the Texas Rangers Radio Network for four seasons, I jumped into politics, serving as Regional Communications Director for the Texas Democratic Party. My focus was almost entirely on Dallas County. To say I enjoyed my time with the TDP is an understatement. Since 2011, I have worked in public and media relations, but I have never gotten the political bug out of my system. While I may be a bit older than many in this field, I bring experience, wisdom, and a readiness to lead.

Impact | While with the Texas Democratic Party in 2010, I was asked to publicize an airplane flying a “Fire Rick Perry” banner over the Texas State Fair. I was given three days to write a release and alert the media. More daunting was this event was happening at the same time as a Dallas Cowboys game. The city shuts down during those. With only a few days’ notice, I enticed three television stations and the Dallas Morning News to cover the event. The ABC affiliate in Dallas covered the plane’s takeoff and flyover. Additionally, I hosted a podcast called “Out of Left Field,” which discussed progressive politics. I am considering relaunching the podcast.

Mission | This is the most critical election of our lives, so I intend to be as involved as possible. Since writing and managing media events is what I do best, I would welcome an opportunity to do that. In 2010, I knew my job was only for that cycle. Should I be fortunate to be hired before this election, I would prefer a position that lasts well beyond November. My goal is to make my next employer my final employer. |
