Bio

Felton Pierre is a graduate of Florida International University possessing strong research, analytical and writing skills, and intermediate knowledge of computer programs, with previous standard work experience in customer service, sales, and administrative/ office settings.

He is a freelancer, an art-tivist, and a progressive organizer whose aim is societal, economic and political equity (in short, liberation) for all historically marginalized communities– be they Black, Latinx, LGBTQ, and/or working-class and poor.

In this vein, he’s aiming at a career not only building upon his previous experience in social justice activism and political organizing but, also, intersecting this polity with data– specifically data analytics and visualization– and both of these as it relates to political engagement (i.e shifts in voter demographics, and/or current vs. past political trends)– and, even more specifically within the context of a need for climate justice– all towards advancing progressive policies and legislation on these issues.

As outlined in his curriculum vitae/resume, he has both  standard work experience– ranging from administrative/office to retail/customer service roles– as well as experience within social justice activism, having, over the years, had the opportunity to both volunteer– and work paid positions– for a number of community groups and organizations throughout South Florida (and outside of Florida)– such as Dream Defenders, New Florida Majority (now Florida Rising), Konscious Kontractors, Sunrise Movement, Friends of the Earth U.S, VOCAL-NY, Organizing for Democracy (Grassroots Democrats/Blue Future), and, most recently, Movement Labs– on various issues, be it advocating for voting rights, immigration reform, and/or climate/food justice, to illustrate.

Impact

Felton Pierre is a progressive art-tivist and organizer who has tackled various social justice issues, from voting rights to immigration reform to climate justice, who has not only worked in South Florida, but also Washington, D.C and New York City.

His work, for example, has focused on assisting politically progressive, and grassroots, campaigns– those of candidates running for office and those dealing with various social justice initiatives, both nationwide and locally– most recently, for instance, with Movement Labs, a political consulting firm wherein he created voter lists, for example, and developed the prompts and visual layout used in the texting and phone banking campaigns of various progressive organizations; mobilized hundreds of volunteers around these active campaigns; and mainly collaborated with Black Voters Matter Fund (i.e serving as a liaison for Movement Labs and BVM State leads and setting up meetings with important stakeholders, and conducting research– both on national political trends and current affairs in general, as how it impacted BIPOC communities, and towards assisting both Movement Labs and BVM with generating their public-facing political content, for their rapid response strategy and for fundraising goals– to illustrate).

And as it relates to climate justice, he’s served as an inaugural National Organizing Fellow for Friends of the Earth U.S, in Washington D.C, wherein he cultivated a movement strategy centered on the passage of Green New Deal legislation in Congress, by utilizing direct recruitment tactics and digital organizing and helping to establish leadership development training for volunteers, all of which helped the organization overall to garner endorsements for a Green New Deal from, mostly Democratic, Congressmembers and major civil rights and environmental groups.

Additionally, he was also a Fellow with Sunrise Movement– first as a volunteer in Lancaster, PA, and then as a paid Fellow/Communications Co-Director in Orlando, FL– which involved both aiding the organization with its initial development of a regional campaign centered on its No Fossil Fuel Money Pledge and– in conjunction with other Florida based social justice organizations– the then promotion of Andrew Gillum for Governor as well as Amendment 4 (Voter Rights Restoration, for returning citizens).

Beyond this, his work has also related to not only issues of voting rights and climate justice, but also immigration reform and food justice, having also volunteered with organizations and nonprofits throughout South Florida, such as Konscious Kontractors (who currently run a weekly food drive from Miami Peniel Church of the Nazarene in Little Haiti neighborhood of Miami); FAMN (Family Action Movement Network, also in Little Haiti, related to TPS); and Dream Defenders, where, for example, he assisted with the initial Voter Rights Restoration campaign in 2017 to actually get Amendment 4 on the election ballot in Florida, by collecting petitions as part of a statewide effort. Indeed, the Miami chapter collaborated with other chapters of Dream Defenders throughout Florida, alongside New Florida Majority (now known as Florida Rising), in preparation, clean-up  and recovery efforts regarding Hurricane Irma, also in 2017: as part of this team, he helped secure shutters and assisted in getting supplies to community residents before the hurricane hit; and, in the aftermath of the storm, helped deliver hundreds of boxes of food, bottles of water and batteries to residents lacking power throughout Opa-Locka, Liberty City, Allapattah, and Little Haiti neighborhoods.

Even as it relates to prison reform/decarceration, for a time, he volunteered with VOCAL-NY, in New York City, specifically on their campaign of decriminalizing the use of certain drugs, so as to reduce arrest, imprisonment and recidivism, that disproportionately impact Black and Latinx offenders.

Mission

This cycle, he aims to work on a campaign for a progressive candidate (whether local, statewide, or Congressional). Beyond that, his overall goal is to work for a progressive political nonprofit and/or progressive political consulting firm.
