🌍 About GAIN Power
GAIN Power is a unique community space for people working to power positive, progressive politics and the leaders dedicated to good governance and social change.
We are dedicated to promoting and celebrating individuals and organizations that power democracy, elections, advocacy campaigns, and government to create meaningful social, political, and economic change.
Most importantly, we exist to support the people doing this work—creating community so that we are a vessel for connections and building networks. We want to market those who dedicate their lives to democracy, create space for sharing and learning, for professional development, and for sharing best practices.

- To highlight those resisting Trump, MAGA extremism, and authoritarian threats while advancing progressive policies that uplift working people
- To fight misinformation & disinformation that discourages participation
- To build a hopeful, representative democracy that serves all communities
- To strengthen the pro-democracy movement by uplifting progressive candidates, organizations, and policies
- To create space for sharing, learning, and professional development

- Pro-Choice — Abortion is health care and a fundamental right
- Pro-Union — Workers deserve fair wages, safe conditions, and strong protections
- Pro-Black Lives Matter — Because racial justice is essential to democracy
- Pro-BIPOC & LGBTQI+ Rights — Equity and inclusion are core values
- Pro-Public Education & Health Care — Quality education and health care should be accessible to all, not just the wealthy
- Pro-Climate Action — Climate change is real, urgent, and demands immediate policy solutions
- Pro-Gun Reform — Most guns should be illegal, and others should be registered and regulated
- Pro-Ukraine — Russia invaded, Ukraine is worth fighting for, and foreign aid is more impactful than military force
- Pro-Democracy — Because voting should be easy and accessible, not suppressed and limited
- Pro-Immigration Justice — We support a fair and humane immigration system
- Pro-Fair Tax Policy — The wealthiest should pay their fair share to invest in public good
- Pro-Good Government — We believe government is good and separation of powers is critical to our success

It is the strength required to bring about social, political, and economic change… What is needed is a realization that power without love is reckless and abusive, and that love without power is sentimental and anemic. Power at its best is love implementing the demands of justice, and justice at its best is love correcting everything that stands against love.”
📌 Community Guidelines
🌟 1. Be Respectful & Inclusive
- This is a positive community. Trolls will be removed.
- We believe we’re stronger together – that doesn’t mean there isn’t room for constructive criticism so long as it comes from a place of love and respect.
- Treat everyone with professionalism, kindness, and respect
- Harassment, hate speech, discrimination, or personal attacks will not be tolerated
- Respect pronouns, identities, and lived experiences
- Engage in discussions with curiosity, not hostility
💬 2. Stay On-Topic & Use the Right Channels
Keep discussions relevant to progressive politics, careers, events, and movement-building. Use the correct channels for different topics:

- #jobs-that-are-left – Progressive job postings and hiring discussions
- #career-advice – Career guidance, professional development, and mentorship opportunities
- #rootscamp – RootsCamp updates, planning, and discussions
- #powerful-idea-awards – Info, nominations, and conversations about the Powerful IDEA Awards
- #resistance-actions – Organizing, mobilizing, and strategizing against right-wing extremism
- #events – Share and discuss upcoming progressive events and community gatherings
- #worth-sharing – Articles, stories, resources, and tools worth sharing with the progressive community
- #consultant-rfp – For consultants to connect, discuss industry trends, and share RFPs and contract opportunities
- #policy-organizing – Discussions on progressive policy priorities and regional organizing efforts
- #tech-tools – Discussions about digital tools, platforms, and tech strategies for progressive work

🚫 3. Keep Content in the Right Channels
- Job postings belong in #jobs-that-are-left only
- Event promotions (including fundraisers, rallies, and trainings) belong in #events
- Resources and articles worth sharing belong in #worth-sharing
- We encourage organizations and individuals to promote their progressive work – just keep it in the appropriate channels
- No commercial ads or solicitations unrelated to progressive causes
🛑 4. Keep It Confidential & Secure
- Do not share personal, private, or sensitive information without consent
- Screenshots of discussions should not be shared outside of Slack
- Respect community members’ privacy and professional boundaries
📢 5. Engage Constructively & Report Issues
- Disagreements happen—keep discussions civil and solution-oriented
- If you see behavior that violates these guidelines, report it to a moderator
- Moderators reserve the right to warn or remove members who repeatedly violate these guidelines
