The 1833 Group, an award winning firm, was founded in 2018 by Nick Daggers and James “JR” Patton. Together, they bring a combined quarter-century of experience managing and overseeing political organizations, municipalities, and nonprofits. They established the 1833 Group to help progressive candidates, causes and local governments succeed.
Our founding partners grew up in the Chicagoland area and have been well-acquainted with it’s unique form of local politics since their teenage years. The firm’s name pays homage to the Windy City—Chicago’s nickname, which was inspired not by the prevailing winds off Lake Michigan but by the hot air bellowing from politicians. 1833 was the year that Chicago was first incorporated as a town—four years before it officially became a city.
