Accomplished writer and digital strategist

Bio
  • I have a track record of success in helping a variety of organizations achieve – and often exceed – lofty goals. Most notably, in 2022 I helped elect Michigan’s first Democratic trifecta in nearly 40 years.
  • From social media posts to email newsletters, my work has been seen by a diverse array of audiences large and small. For example, I currently manage five Facebook pages totaling over 41,000 followers.
  • I’m comfortable working in fast-paced environments; managing and prioritizing multiple projects; and adapting tactics and strategy to the fast-changing world of politics.
  • I stay on top of the latest digital trends by participating in digital-related Slack channels and attending events such as Netroots Nation. I’m also an alumnus of the December 2023 cohort of Arena Academy 201: Digital Skills.
  • Throughout my career, I’ve demonstrated a commitment to progressive politics, civic engagement, and the ideals of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Impact

With my help:

  • The Michigan Democratic Party won its first state-level trifecta since 1983.
  • Organizing for Action exceeded three multi-million-dollar fundraising goals.
  • Several candidates and groups have seen substantial growth in social media metrics.

Plus, in 2024 I ran for Kent County Clerk/Register of Deeds and received more votes (161,434) and a higher vote percentage (45.4%) than any previous Democratic nominee for that office.

Mission

“Respect, empower, include.” Over a decade after President Obama’s last campaign, that motto continues to inform my political work – both paid and volunteer.

I know firsthand what it’s like to have my voice ignored, if not unheard altogether. I’ve also seen what happens when people from marginalized communities are left out of decision-making tables. I believe that the tendency to ignore ordinary voices – especially marginalized voices – has contributed to the distrust people have in government and politics.

I want to do my small part to fix that. To me, that means making political and advocacy spaces more inclusive; lifting up the voices of ordinary people; and helping people become more engaged in the political process.
