Bio | Learning about climate change and our country’s history of racism sparked my passion for progressive politics, and led me to become involved in progressive advocacy organizations to take action. I took on the role of the Hub Coordinator for the new Sunrise Movement hub in my area. I became involved in other organizations, such as Citizens’ Climate Lobby, Sierra Club, and Our Revolution. Once the pandemic hit, I volunteered for Covid relief organizations. From my background in psychology and all my experience and education, I know my passion for progressive politics will only continue to grow. I quickly realized that we already have the capabilities and potential solutions to effectively address not only climate change, but also a number of social injustices, however, what we need is to elect a majority of progressive elected officials who will vote to implement these policies to bring about this much needed and deserved progress. My focus has been doing the most I can to expand outreach to maximize the number of voters to ultimately maximize the number of progressives elected, especially in the existential midterms! Most recently, I’ve been working to connect with an organization to assist with the development and implementation of an innovative tool I’ve designed to facilitate mass polling and large-scale grassroots organizing in a digital medium through an app/website platform. |
Impact | I’ve designed a Digital Activism Tool to essentially conduct large-scale polling through an online/app platform and facilitate large-scale grassroots organizing in a digital medium. This tool will organize as many users as possible to maximize the collection of user feedback- to generate a mass representation of public opinion and demands to be used to pressure members of Congress. Serving as a continuous, reliable platform for accurate, important information will keep users informed, engaged, and ultimately mobilized to turn out to vote to elect progressives. Users will anonymously submit demographic information to be tied with each of their responses to generate more informative data, illustrating the interplay among various demographic factors and public opinion. In addition to users being able to provide their feedback on these important issues and topics, users will also be able to view continuously updating, raw polling results informing them of unbiased public opinion and revealing the popularity of progressive politics. A main purpose of this tool is to maximize accessibility to maximize the number of respondents and amount of data collected- to increase the representativeness and improve the accuracy of the polling data. I’ve also written a book “What They Don’t Want You to Know” about the history of racism and greed rooted in this country and what a transition to a progressive reimagining of America should look like. Eventually, I’d like to expand to share it with as many people as possible free of charge. |
Mission | My main focus has been on promoting this Digital Activism Tool to partner with a polling firm to develop this platform. Then, the focus would be promoting and networking with organizations to compile a mass user base of respondents to continue to expand the impact of the tool and build up progressive support for the existential 2022 midterms. I’ve received interest from multiple polling firms, but have still been looking to connect with an organization interested both in assisting with the development and implementation of this tool. I strongly believe developing and implementing this tool will effectively bring about mass progressive success, so I’ve been striving to make this happen as soon as possible. I have also been interested in the on-the-ground grassroots organizing work in progressive politics to help maximize the number of progressives (re)elected in the midterms. |
