Bio | Shortly after my first field operation for Washington state’s 8th Congressional District during the 2008 elections, I launched my political career serving the U.S. House Democratic Caucus under the leadership of then Vice Chair Xavier Becerra. I played a critical role in steering, advising, and strategizing outreach tactics for Democratic members of Congress to reach Asian-American, African-American, and Latino constituents. Since my tenure on Capitol Hill, I have leveraged my strategic communications and outreach skills to lead political campaigns and advocacy initiatives at the state and county levels. Most recently, I managed the Julie Yang for Board of Education (District 3) campaign, which won with more than 60 percent of the votes in a highly Democratic county during the 2022 Maryland elections. She has also led communications efforts for the Hoan Dang for Montgomery County Council (At-Large) and Hung Nguyen for Delegate (VA-67) campaigns. For both campaigns, I’ve played a pivotal role in building a robust outreach plan that utilized a combination of media engagement, grassroots mobilization and multilingual tactics to build voter and donor bases. Currently, I lead efforts to increase the political and civic engagement of Asian Pacific Americans at the local, state, and federal level as a board member of the Asian American Political Alliance and the Maryland Democratic Party Asian American and Pacific Islanders Diversity Leadership Council. |
Impact | · Our record of building the political pipeline for Asian Americans brought us to partner with the Asian Pacific American Institute for Congressional Studies (APAICS) to conduct campaign management training for their National Leadership Academy, and the Regional Leadership Academies in Chicago, IL and New Brunswick, NJ. These academies are non-partisan leadership training programs for current elected officials and individuals seeking to run for public office. In 2024, PWP Strategies trained nearly 100 academy participants from across the U.S., covering topics such as campaign planning, communications, and volunteer recruitment. · We teamed up with the Fells Group to launch nine (9) episodes of The Blue Dumpling Podcast, which showcased prominent Asian American elected officials, community leaders and community activists. Our podcast aims to bridge the gap in information and awareness surrounding Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPI) in politics and civic life. |
