Progressive Profile
Tagline | Willing and ready to work |
Bio | I first got involved in progressive politics in the 2020 election as a canvasser for The Outreach Team. Our goal was to turn out potential progressive voters for the 2020 election; not only did I knock on doors, but did a voter drive. In December 2020, I rejoined them to canvass for the Georgia Senate runoffs. In the summer of 2021, I did an internship at the progressive political consulting firm, Princeton Strategies. I worked with various candidates on various things such as setting up emails, working in NGP VAN, Act Blue, and understanding FEC/political donations. |
Impact | My canvassing work led to Biden winning Georgia, and the Democrats taking control of the Senate during the runoffs. I also helped get one of my friends to get into progressive politics. He was an apolitical white guy from an affluent part of Atlanta. During the 2020 BLM protests, I helped educate him about the nature of systemic racism and its impact on policing. This led to him protesting for racial change; he has never protested before. |
Mission | For the immediate term, I want to work in political consulting and political campaigns. However, I do want in the long term to do a start-up. This start-up would be helping labor unions. Labor right now is facing a potential resurgence in the wake of the pandemic. This start-up would deal with solving issues labor unions and union organizers have. Labor is a vital part of progressive politics as they help working people, especially people of color. |
