Progressive Profile
| Current Employer | Oklahoma House of Representatives |
| Current Occupation | Legislative Assistant |
| Tagline | I am a dedicated legislative assistant committed to supporting Representative Amanda Swope and Representative Arturo Alonso-Sandoval in her efforts to serve our community. |
| Bio | My journey into progressive politics began when I moved to the United States from Mexico after graduating from law school. With a strong passion for justice and equality, I was determined to advocate for immigrant rights and support marginalized communities. Upon settling in Oklahoma, I became involved in local advocacy groups focused on immigrant rights. This experience highlighted the critical need for comprehensive immigration reform and equitable policies to support all community members. Driven by a desire to make a more significant impact, I began working as a legislative assistant for Representative Amanda Swope and Representative Alonso-Sandoval. In this role, I have had the privilege of supporting progressive policies that address crucial issues such as healthcare access, environmental protection, and educational equity. My responsibilities include researching legislation, coordinating with stakeholders, and assisting in the development of policy initiatives that reflect our constituents’ values and needs. Through this work, I aim to contribute to meaningful change and help build a more inclusive and equitable society. |
| Impact | As a legislative assistant for Representative Amanda Swope and Representative Alonso-Sandoval, I have continued to impact progressive politics by supporting the development and implementation of policies that address healthcare access, environmental protection, and educational equity. My role involves researching legislation, coordinating with stakeholders, and assisting in crafting policy initiatives that reflect our constituents’ values and needs. I also played a crucial role in organizing a rally against HB4156, an anti-immigration bill in Oklahoma. This rally brought together community members, activists, and local leaders to stand in solidarity against the bill, raising awareness and mobilizing opposition to protect the rights of immigrants. One of my notable achievements was organizing a series of town hall meetings that brought together community members, local leaders, and policymakers to discuss pressing issues and collaborate on solutions. These events not only facilitated meaningful dialogue but also helped to build a stronger, more engaged community. Through these efforts, I have strived to make a lasting impact on progressive politics by advocating for inclusive and equitable policies that uplift and empower all members of our society. |
| Mission | Looking ahead, my career aspirations are deeply rooted in my commitment to advancing progressive causes, particularly in the realm of immigrant rights and human rights advocacy. I am excited to announce my goal of starting law school next spring semester, where I intend to specialize in immigration law. My ultimate aim is to become an immigration attorney, dedicated to providing legal support and representation to immigrant communities. I am passionate about defending the rights of immigrants and ensuring they have access to fair and just treatment under the law. In the long term, I aspire to expand my impact globally by working as an advocate for human rights at the United Nations. I believe in the power of international law and diplomacy to effect positive change, and I am eager to contribute to initiatives that promote equality, justice, and human dignity on a global scale. Through my journey in law school and beyond, I am committed to leveraging my skills and knowledge to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities, both locally and internationally. I am grateful for the opportunities I have had thus far to contribute to the progressive movement, and I look forward to continuing this work with dedication and passion. |
