Alyssa N. Batchelor, M.S. is a senior democratic research strategist that has spent her career in campaigns and government electing policymakers and passing progressive legislation across the country.

She got her start in politics as a Youth Organizer for the Obama Campaign in 2008 and never looked back. To date, she’s worked with hundreds of campaigns and organizations in 33 states (and counting!) to get candidates elected, pass important advocacy initiatives, and train organizers to be effective leaders for change.

In 2023, she founded Hill and State Strategies, a full-service national research and public affairs firm, to champion progressive democratic candidates, labor unions, advocacy groups, democracy-focused non-profit organizations, and foundations in their campaigns and long-term strategic goals.

Alyssa is focused on combating and challenging mis-and-disinformation tactics being used to erode our democracy by using innovative methodologies and approaches to opposition research.

Prior to founding Hill and State Strategies, Alyssa worked as a Legislative Assistant in the Virginia House of Delegates and as the Director of Political Research at The Mellman Group in Washington, D.C.

She lives in Herndon with her fiance, Anwar, and their cat, Blaze.
